Samsung, Huawei Show Off Foldable Phones
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the world's largest yearly event for showing new smartphones and other technologies. This year's four-day event in Barcelona, Spain, introduced some interesting new devices.
Huawei launched a new foldable smartphone just days after Samsung launched its own foldable phone. Both companies showed off their new devices at the MWC.
The new devices work as a smartphone when closed but as a tablet when opened. Both phones will come with 5G wireless technology.
Smartphone technology hasn't changed much in recent years, so experts see foldable phones as a way for companies to bring in new customers.
However, one major issue for buyers will be the cost. Huawei's Mate X will sell for about $2,600 and Samsung's Galaxy Fold will cost nearly $2,000.
Microsoft also introduced a new augmented reality headset, the HoloLens 2. While augmented reality devices have so far mostly been popular with gamers, Microsoft says the latest headset will help people perform their jobs better and more safely.
The technology can be used to guide workers through difficult industrial or medical tasks. It can also be used in the office, helping people all over the world work on projects as if they were in the same room.
