How to Answer the Most Difficult Interview Question
Which character on Game of Thrones is the most like you?
If you were an ice cream, which one would you be?
These are just two of the strange interview questions that bosses have asked.
They're surprising questions, and they'll probably make you think. But for many people, there's one question that's more difficult than any other:
"What is your biggest weakness?"
It's a common question, and one we can try to prepare for.
But what's a good answer? How can you make yourself sound great while still admitting there's something you're not very good at?
There are some answers you should never give, according to jobs expert Lee Biggins.
He told the BBC you shouldn't choose "I'm a perfectionist," or "I care too much." These answers don't sound genuine, he said.
"Try to be honest with your answers," he added.
This will show that you understand your weaknesses and you know where you want to improve.
However, you do need to sell yourself and turn a negative thing into a positive one when you explain your answer.
Choose a weakness that won't stop you from doing the job well, says Caroline Forsey from business site HubSpot — so don't say you're rude to customers, for example.
It could be something like finding it difficult to say no, to delegate, or to ask for help.
But more important than that is how you explain the answer — what have you done to improve in this area and what more can you do?
When you answer the question, it's important to be confident, says Forsey, and don't speak for too long.
You don't want to spend too long talking about weaknesses — get back to the things you're good at!
